And it makes me sad. Because it just doesn’t have to fail, even though it has been punted around poorly for 5 years. xBox just needs somebody XBOX 360 controller with a brain and focus to get the product in order tactically before romping forward to continue the long-term strategic promise of an xBox in every living room, connected to every screen. There is much speculation behind the PS4 controller but has it already been revealed? In just a few short days (3 to be exact) Sony are set to XBOX 360 DVD drive announce the reason behind their “See The Future” announcement, of course all clues, the most obvious one XBOX 360 kinect being the PlayStation symbol buttons appearing in the “See The Future” teaser trailer, lead to the announcement being highly rumored to be able the new PS4. Let’s look at the apparent prototype and how it compares with the current controller. In these I discuss some ideas as to what the new controller with look like. This is a main focus point to the PS4 as Sony are thinking of dropping the much loved dual shock controller. I’m sure Sony have a very legitimate reason behind this personally playing on a PlayStation and growing up with the dual shock this has become a key feature of gaming. An apparent ”trusted source” has released the following image of what the PS4 controller may look like although this is a prototype it is set to change between now and when the console is announced it does make me wonder if the controller can really be changed all that much. With the new Phototools and Camreatools added to Firestorm v4.3.1.31155, I tried once again to get my old wired Xbox 360 controller to actually be USEFUL in second life. When you plug in your Xbox controller, Firestorm (or any SL viewer) basically has no idea what to do with it. After all Second Life is technically a 3D editor put into a MMO game world. Controllers aren’t exactly meant for wii controller editing, but they are useful for 3D gaming, so this is how I was able to get it to work like a standard controller as if playing a First, or Third person shooter. If you have tried to use it in the past you’ll notice your camera or your avatar will move around very unpredictably. This is because the axis dimensions in game, are mapped to seemingly random axises on your controller. The viewer will only see 5 of your analog axises. Both analog sticks for a total of four axises, and both analog triggers are seen as a single axis. Left stick are axises 0 and 1. Right stick are axises 3 and 4, and the triggers are seen as axis 2. You cannot configure any of the buttons, shoulder bumpers, nor the Dpad. However the (A) button is set to toggle flycam on and off, so you can switch from avatar movement, to flycam on the.. um.. fly!Over the PS3 Controller last few weeks, with christmas looming and everyone getting that December feeling, development has been quite slow. 745TDBanty 130219
